First President's Park is an urban park located in Almaty at the intersection of Navoi Street and Al-Farabi Avenue in Bostandyk district of Almaty and with a total area of 73 hectares it has become one of the favourites among the residents and tourists of Almaty. As the name suggests, the First President Park is named after the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and was opened to the general public on November 2011.
Creation of the park began in 2001. The first were broken main elements of the park - the avenue, hydrological and boulevard areas. Greeneries were planted according to hydrological plan. In honor of the participation of the city of Almaty in the Olympic torch relay of the Beijing Olympic Games, about a hundred spruces and birches were planted. In 2011, a hundred Tien-Shan spruces were also planted. An oak was planted personally by the Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2001.
Refinement of the park continues. In General construction plan includes a set of water projects in the area of 9.5 ha and massif area on the area of 4.8 hectares. In the southern part of the park is planned construction of landscape composition, which consists of a mountain lake and artificial bulk of the mountains (height up to 24 m). In some areas with mountainous terrain are planned to artificial sources of streams. In the middle of the park Klimatron was built. To date, the areas of the future construction and Klimatron Shestikaskadnyh fountains arranged flower beds, seating areas, paths, etc., built an observation deck, which is located on the mountain height of approximately 12 meters.
The youngest city of Almaty has an interesting layout with picturesque mountains as the backdrop. The park is around 1.5 km from one end to another lined up with trees and flower beds. On the southern end of the park, there are sitting areas with small shelters on raised mounds. The park has no admission charges and in fact it does not have any shops too, so one should carry their food and drinks with them when going to the park for a day out.
The highlight of the park is the city’s largest fountain which is a multi-stage water theme with light and music. The main jet fountain has a diameter of 70 mm and reaches a height of 30 meters. The musical fountain show is performed for every hour in the evening and is hit among everyone. Another thing that attracts the tourists is the monumental sculptural composition of Kazakhstan on the 20th anniversary of Independence which showcases a golden eagle made in bronze, granite and marble and the map has symbolic images of the historical sites of Kazakhstan. This park has become must visit spot for anyone travelling to the country and should not be given a miss.
