The East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Fine Arts named after Nevzorovs is one of the largest museums in Kazakhstan with its artistic value. More than 5,000 items are exhibited in the museum: Russian art at the end of XVIII century, western European painting and graphics at the beginning of the XVI century, XX century CIS countries, Russia, Central Asia, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus and fine arts of Kazakhstan.
The Nevzorovs family museum in Semey was founded in 1985 as a scientific and artistic department of the local history museum. The museum was awarded the status of the museum in 1988 in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers on the opening of the Semey Regional Museum of Fine Arts, signed by Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The true destiny for the museum was decisive when a meeting was held in 1986 with the Moscow collector Yuli Vladimir Nevzorov. Yulia Nevzorov, the largest owner of creative collections of art, was known for his willingness to exhibit his collection among museums. Its series has been visited in 15 cities of the Soviet Union: Minsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Omsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Kislovodsk, Vinnitsa and others. Everyone has gifts in town. In the Semey museum, the Nevzorovs family left the entire exhibition.
Afterwards gifts were presented, in general the Nevzorovs family presented to our museum 569 works of art including 177 paintings.
Thanks to the well-being of the Nevzorov family, which is unprecedented in the history of Kazakhstan's museum business, the Semey Museum has created a scientifically-motivated exposition in 25 halls. The exhibition of the museum collection was held in four cities of Kazakhstan: Oskemen, Pavlodar, Almaty, and Nur Sultan - it was a great success.
Y.V.Nevorov devoted his life to the collection of works of art; he has been collecting collections collected by his father Petr Ivanovich Nevzorov and his father, Vladimir Ignatyevich, but he is an engineer, but he has sent all his money to buy paintings. And he has studied his collection and compiled a scientific catalog.
Yulia Nevzorov acquired his first painting at the age of 17, and from then on it became part of his life, in other words, his whole life. According to Julia Vladimirovich, his studies and work at the Moscow Institute of Construction have become the method of accumulation. A person with a sense of sensuality and elegance is also impressed by the technical intelligence of the pragmatic nature.
Yulia Nevzorov has made invaluable aid to the museum in his research work due to his profound knowledge in the field of visual art. In 1991, the museum was renamed the Nevzorovs family, and in 1995, Y.V. Nevzorov was awarded the Parasat Order for his contribution to the development of culture in Kazakhstan. The Nevzorov family has been honored by the Honorable Citizens of Semey.
At the museum there is a lecture hall, a children's art studio, and a classical music party in the concert hall. The restoration workshop of the museum is being repaired.
