Detail

Memorial to Fatherland Defenders, Monument "Otan-Ana"-It was built on May 7, 2001 on the square at the intersection of today's Independence and K.Munaytpasov avenues in Nur Sultan. The memorial of "Fatherland Defenders" symbolizes the connection of past, present and future generations. It is 37.5 meters in height and 63 tons in weight, a giant monument – a motherhood image. White shepherd woman pours a golden gourmet cup of tea and presents it to the comers with her heart full of national traditions. From the image you can see she is a national identity of the whole Kazakh woman waiting for eagerly her husband, her sons and daughters who are far from home. At the top of the bronze column, the object of 121 golden wheat stalks is a symbol of the deep-rooted unity and strong friendship of multinational Kazakhstani people. The below part of the wheat stalks is decorated with ornaments representing the spiritual and cultural heritage of each nation on the Kazakh land. It is also a sign of the new growth - life, peace, abundance and stability. Another aspect of the three-piece monument is the display of the globe: it was clearly noted with sculpture way that the Keruens traveled on the Silk Road from the ancient times and went to Turkestan, the ancient city of Turkic peoples, and Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassaui, a spiritual center for Muslims and then after many historical moments arrived in the capital city Nur Sultan. On one of the sides of the about 40 meters high bronze columns - the heroes who defended our large ancestral home from various invaders, and on the other side - the Kazakhstani soldiers who had shown heroism during the Great Patriotic War. It a special monument of honor to soldiers killed in the battle for the freedom of the country during the war years and veterans of the war, who are still examples among us. Memorial of Fatherland Defenders was opened on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 10th Anniversary of the foundation of the Kazakh Armed Forces.
