As in many capitals of the world, it has the largest flag of the republic on the highest flagpole in Nur Sultan. The area of state symbols was opened on July 6, 2009 by the President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in the center of Nur Sultan, on the site of the Memorial to the victims of political repressions, which was previously transferred to the village of Akmol not far from Nur Sultan. The largest flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan flies above it. According to the idea of the head of state, in this square takes place taking oath by servicemen, awarding state prizes and awards, as well as celebrating the Day of State Symbols of the country, taking place on June 4.
